SPORTING ACTIVITIES

  • Netball

Played on a rectangular court, each team attempts to score goals by passing a ball down the courts and shooting it through the goal ring. During general play, a player with the ball can hold onto it for only three seconds before shooting for a goal or passing to another player.

  • Volleyball

The ball is usually played with the hands or arms. The ball may only be hit 3 times on each side. Volleyball is a fun and interactive exercise that promotes teamwork within the team.

OTHER GAMES

  • Marble Run Team Building Exercise

Marble Run is a remarkably active and immensely enjoyable activity.  Teams need to transport a marble from start to finish line, but they only have enough supplies to cover part of the distance! Completing the challenge in time will require strong leadership, effective communication, collaboration and from the team.  The marble needs to be rolled without it falling to the ground. If the marble hits the ground at any point, they have to start again!

With its high energy levels and a team bonding element, the game is excellent for encouraging communication, collaboration and a 'one-time' approach.

Outcomes: Communication, strategic planning, team work and leadership

  • Tug of War

Tug of War is a long-standing favorite team building exercise. A real sense of teamwork is created as young and old, big or small, work together as a team to come up as the victor in this battle of strength. A rope of about ten centimeters in circumference and marked with a center line is used for this exercise. Another marking is placed on either side of the center line and about four meters away from the center line. The center line must be directly over a line marked on the ground before the Tug of War can proceed. The object of the exercise is for one team to pull the other team’s marker over the marking line on the ground.

  • Penalty Shootout

Two teams will compete against each other at a time in this enjoyable and highly interactive activity. One team has their turn at trying to score a goal, with each team member alternating after each attempt. The other team then tries to defend with each team member alternating as the goal keeper.  Once each person in the attacking team has had a turn, the teams swap and the first team then defend. The games is played over either two halves with each member having two shots at goal.
